John Bellairs

John Bellairs (1938–1991) was an American writer. He is best known for his series about the orphan Lewis Barnavelt, which became part of the classic tradition of fantasy literature for children and young adults. After graduating in English literature, Bellairs initially worked as a college teacher. Following his early success as a writer, he devoted himself entirely to writing. Among his best-known works is The House with a Clock in Its Walls, first published in the 1970s.
