John Bayley

John Bayley (1925–2015) was a British literary scholar, critic and writer. He was Professor of English at the University of Oxford, a Fellow of St Catherine’s College and chairman of the Booker Prize Committee. In addition to scholarly works on literature, he wrote several novels. Bayley was married to the writer and philosopher Iris Murdoch.
