John Barton

John Barton (born 1948) was Professor of the Interpretation of Scripture at Oriel College, University of Oxford, from 1991 to 2014. He became a Fellow of the British Academy in 2007 and a foreign member of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters in 2008. In 1998, the University of Bonn awarded him an honorary doctorate in theology. His book The History of the Bible received the Duff Cooper Prize in 2020.
