John A. Bargh (born 1955) is a psychologist who was a professor of psychology at Yale University, where he led the Automaticity in Cognition, Motivation, and Evaluation (ACME) Laboratory. His research focused on automatic and unconscious processes influencing social behavior, as well as questions concerning free will. He received, among other honors, the Max Planck Research Award. A 1996 experiment on the unconscious influence of priming on behavior became known as the “Florida effect.”
