Johannes Mahr

Born in 1941, Johannes Mahr earned a doctorate from the University of Würzburg in 1968, studying modern German literature, archaeology and philosophy. After working as a research assistant at the university’s Institute of German Philology, he taught German, history and music at the Egbert-Gymnasium of Münsterschwarzach Abbey from 1979 to 2006. He also held an adjunct professorship at the University of Würzburg’s Institute of German Philology. Mahr published extensively on the history of Münsterschwarzach Abbey and the Missionary Benedictines of St. Ottilien, as well as on modern German literature and Benedictine missions in Korea and China.
