Johannes Beck

Johannes Beck, born in 1972, was born in Meersburg and grew up in Illmensee near Lake Constance. From 1991 to 1993, he completed civilian service in Lisbon. He subsequently studied Regional Sciences of Latin America at the University of Cologne and economics at the Instituto Superior de Economia e Gestão in Lisbon from 1995 to 1996. From 1999 onward, Beck worked as an editor at Deutsche Welle; from 2006, he headed its Portuguese for Africa editorial department. He also worked as a freelance journalist.
