Johann Bauer

Johann Bauer was born in Mecklenburg in 1943 and grew up in Penzberg and Weilheim. He trained as a publishing bookseller in Munich and subsequently worked as an advertising assistant at a specialist book publisher. He then moved into advertising, working for small and international agencies in Munich, Frankfurt am Main, and Düsseldorf—first as a copywriter, later as a creative director, and ultimately as a creative director and managing partner. His novel “Onkel Amerika” was his debut as a writer.
