Joachim Friedrich (born in 1953 in Oberhausen) is a German author of children’s and young adult books. After studying economics and earning a doctorate, he worked for Lufthansa and was also employed as an economist and management consultant. Reading Michael Ende’s “Momo” inspired him to take up writing professionally. He became known particularly for the “4 1/2 Freunde” series and the books “Amanda X” and “Wölfchen Zauberstein.” His books have been translated into more than 30 languages.
