JJ Bola

JJ Bola was born in Kinshasa, Congo, in 1986 and fled to England with his family at the age of six. He grew up in London. After completing a master’s degree in creative writing at Birkbeck College, University of London, he worked for several years as a social worker with young people experiencing mental health problems. Bola published collections of poetry, novels and the nonfiction book “Sei kein Mann,” which examines traditional ideas of masculinity.
