Jessica Stirling

Jessica Stirling was the pseudonym of Scottish author Hugh Crauford Rae (1935–2014). Born in Glasgow, Rae worked in a bookshop for fourteen years before turning to writing. He published more than seventy novels, mostly under pseudonyms, including romantic fiction and historical family sagas. As Jessica Stirling, he initially wrote in collaboration with author Peggy Coghlan and later continued under the name alone with her permission. Rae served as president of the Scottish Association of Writers and taught creative-writing courses at the University of Glasgow.
