Jessica Durlacher

Jessica Durlacher, born in Amsterdam in 1961, is a Dutch writer. She was one of three daughters of the sociologist, writer and Holocaust survivor Gerhard L. Durlacher. Her novels explore families shaped and traumatized by the Holocaust across generations. Her works include The Daughter (original title: De Dochter), The Son (De Held) and The Voice (De stem). She received the Dutch Opzij Literature Prize in 2010 for The Son, which was successfully adapted for film in the Netherlands in 2016.
