Jesper Juul

Jesper Juul (1948–2019) was a Danish teacher, group and family therapist, conflict consultant, and author. After studying history, religious education, and European intellectual history, he worked first as a residential childcare worker and social worker. In 1979 he founded the Kempler Institute of Scandinavia, which he led until 2004. He also provided therapeutic support to children, young people, and families, including work in refugee camps during the wars in the former Yugoslavia. Juul wrote numerous books for parents and professionals; his best-known work is “Your Competent Child” (original title: “Ditt kompetenta barn”).
