Jens Wietschorke

Jens Wietschorke (born 1978) is a cultural scholar. He received his doctorate from Humboldt University of Berlin in 2009 and worked as a university assistant at the Institute of European Ethnology at the University of Vienna from 2009 to 2015, where he completed his habilitation in 2015. He subsequently served as an academic adviser at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and held a Heisenberg Fellowship from the German Research Foundation. His research interests include historical cultural analysis, urban anthropology, and the study of space and architecture. His publications include Kirchenräume in Wien, 1920er Jahre. 100 Seiten, and Die Welt im Licht. Kino im Berliner Osten 1900–1930, co-authored with Esther Sabelus. His book Wien – Berlin. Wo die Moderne erfunden wurde was named Science Book of the Year.
