Jean-Claude Izzo

Jean-Claude Izzo (1945–2000) was a journalist and writer from Marseille. After publishing several volumes of poetry, he released his first novel, Total Cheops, at the age of fifty. The book launched his Marseille Trilogy, regarded as a major work of international crime fiction. The trilogy’s second volume, Chourmo, received the German Crime Fiction Prize in 2001. Izzo died in Marseille in 2000.
