Jasmin Ramadan, born in 1974, studied German and philosophy in Hamburg. She achieved her literary breakthrough in 2009 with her debut novel, »Soul Kitchen«, a prequel to Fatih Akin’s film of the same name. It was followed by numerous short stories and three further novels, including »Hotel Jasmin« (2016). In 2020, an excerpt from her work »Auf Wiedersehen« opened the competition for the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize.
