Jaromir Konecny

Jaromir Konecny was born in Prague in 1956 and grew up in northern Moravia. He emigrated to West Germany in 1982. After working, among other jobs, as a kitchen assistant and construction worker, he studied at the Technical University of Munich, earned a doctorate in chemistry, and conducted research in bioinformatics. Konecny is a writer and stage performer and is regarded as a pioneer of German- and Czech-language poetry slam. He was runner-up twice in the German-language Poetry Slam Championships and won numerous other slam competitions. He has written books for children, young adults, and adults; his young adult novel “Doktorspiele” was adapted into a film.
