Janet Frame

Janet Frame was born in 1924 in Dunedin, New Zealand, the third of five children of a railway worker. She wrote novels, short stories, and poetry. She also became known internationally through Jane Campion’s award-winning 1990 film *An Angel at My Table*, based on Frame’s autobiographical work.
