Jan Plamper

Jan Plamper (1970–2023) was a German historian. After studying at Brandeis University and earning his Ph.D. at the University of California, Berkeley, he worked as a research assistant at the University of Tübingen. From 2008 to 2012, he was a Dilthey Fellow in the History of Emotions research area at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development in Berlin. He later taught at Goldsmiths, University of London, and the University of Limerick. His research focused on the history of emotions, the senses, migration, and Eastern Europe. His major works include *Geschichte und Gefühl* (2012), *The Stalin Cult: A Study in the Alchemy of Power* (2012), and *Das neue Wir* (2019).
