Jan Jacobs Mulder

Jan Jacobs Mulder (1940–2019) was born in Medan, Indonesia, and was a painter, visual artist, and writer. He wrote novels, short stories, and essays. His first novel, *Jacobs Wapen*, was based on his experiences in a Japanese internment camp, where he was held as a child. Mulder died in the Netherlands in 2019.
