James Redfield

James Redfield (born 1950) studied sociology at Auburn University in Alabama. He subsequently worked for around 15 years with emotionally troubled children, including in child welfare. Alongside this work, he began writing his first book. In May 1993, he self-published *The Celestine Prophecy*. Through word of mouth, the novel gained wide attention and became a cult book.
