Jacques Chessex (born in 1934 in Payerne) was a Swiss writer from French-speaking Switzerland. He published more than 80 works, including novels, poetry, essays, and children's books. In 1973, he was awarded the Prix Goncourt for the novel “Der Kinderfresser.”
