Jack London

Jack London (born John Griffith Chaney, 1876–1916) was an American writer and journalist. He grew up in poverty in California and worked at various times as a factory worker, sailor, and itinerant laborer. In 1897, he took part in the Klondike Gold Rush; experiences from this period later informed his fiction. From 1900 onward, he published numerous novels, short stories, essays, and journalistic pieces. His best-known works include *The Call of the Wild*, *White Fang*, *The Sea-Wolf*, and *Burning Daylight*. His writing often explores the tension between wilderness, nature, and human society.
