Isolde Charim was born in Vienna, studied philosophy in Vienna and Berlin, and earned a doctorate. She worked as a freelance writer, including as a regular columnist for the newspapers „taz“ and „Falter“, and as a scholarly curator at the Bruno Kreisky Forum. Her books include „Lebensmodell Diaspora. Über moderne Nomaden“ (2012, co-edited with Gertraud Auer), „Ich und die Anderen. Wie die neue Pluralisierung uns alle verändert“ (2018), and „Die Qualen des Narzissmus. Über freiwillige Unterwerfung“ (2022). Her awards include the City of Vienna Journalism Prize (2006), the Philosophical Book Prize (2018), and the Tractatus Prize of Philosophicum Lech (2023). In 2022, she received the Austrian State Prize for Cultural Journalism.
