Islam Alijaj

Islam Alijaj, born in 1986, is a Swiss-Albanian politician, entrepreneur and disability rights activist. He has lived with cerebral palsy since birth, has a speech impairment and uses a wheelchair. He co-founded the association Tatkraft, which advocates political self-representation for people with disabilities. In the Swiss parliamentary elections of October 2023, he became the first Swiss Albanian to be elected to the National Council.
