Isaac Bashevis Singer

Isaac Bashevis Singer (1902–1991) was a Polish-American writer. He was born in Radzymin, Poland, and grew up in Warsaw. After a traditional Jewish education and studies, he initially worked as a journalist. He emigrated to the United States in 1935 and later joined the editorial staff of the Yiddish-language newspaper Jewish Daily Forward. Singer wrote primarily in Yiddish and received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1978 for his body of work. He died in Florida in 1991.
