Irving Stone

Irving Stone was born in San Francisco in 1903 and died in Los Angeles in 1989. To finance his schooling and studies at the University of California, he worked at various jobs, including newspaper seller, truck driver, messenger, saxophonist, fruit picker, and laborer. He graduated in 1925 and subsequently lectured in economics. At the age of 23, he began writing short stories and one-act plays before devoting himself entirely to literature.
