Irvin D Yalom

Irvin D. Yalom was born in 1931 in Washington, D.C., to Russian immigrants. He was a psychoanalyst and professor of psychiatry at Stanford University School of Medicine. His work received the Edward Strecker Prize in 1974 and the Foundations Fund Prize in Psychiatry in 1979. In addition to professional literature, Yalom published several novels, including *When Nietzsche Wept*, *Lying on the Couch*, and *The Schopenhauer Cure*. His fiction combines psychotherapeutic themes with literary storytelling.
