Irene Pepperberg

Irene Pepperberg was a behavioral biologist and researcher who worked at several universities, including Harvard University, studying the foundations of language and communication. She became particularly known for her research with Alex, an African grey parrot. The studies contributed to a reassessment of birds’ cognitive abilities and are regarded as a milestone in language research.
