Ingrid Rauner was born in Posen and was expelled from the city with her family in 1945. After a year as a refugee, including stays in Straußberg, Neuruppin and Teetz, the family was taken in by Hesse in 1946, where Rauner grew up. She trained as a kindergarten teacher, educationalist, teacher, mediator and supervisor. Rauner was a member of the German Federal Association for Mediation and led its “Education and Upbringing” specialist group for six years. She was also a founding member of a refugee initiative.
