Ingeborg Gleichauf

Ingeborg Gleichauf (born 1953) studied German and philosophy at the University of Freiburg, where she received her doctorate in 1994 for a study of Ingeborg Bachmann’s novel “Malina.” She worked for many years in adult education and has published numerous books on women philosophers, writers and theatre figures. Her works include biographies and studies of Hannah Arendt, Simone de Beauvoir, Max Frisch and Martha Nussbaum, as well as “Wir wollen verstehen. Geschichte der Philosophinnen” (“We Want to Understand: A History of Women Philosophers”). In 2008, she received the Preis der Jungen Kritiker Wiens for her biography of Simone de Beauvoir, “Sein wie keine andere.”
