Ian Sayer

Ian Sayer (born 1945) is a researcher of the history of the Third Reich and the disappearance of Reichsbank gold. He became known in part for demonstrating that two gold bars from this hoard had gone missing. The international search that followed lasted almost 20 years and took him to the Bank of England’s gold vault, where he was photographed holding one of the bars he had traced. Sayer was curator of the Ian Sayer Archive, which contains an extensive collection of books, letters, and official documents relating to the Second World War.
