Hilary Mantel

Hilary Mantel (1952–2022) was an English author. Born in Glossop, she worked as a social worker after studying law in London. She lived for five years in Botswana and four years in Saudi Arabia. Her novel »Wölfe« (2009), the first volume of her Tudor trilogy, won the Booker Prize in 2009. The second volume, »Falken«, received the prize in 2012, making Mantel a two-time Booker winner. The trilogy was completed by »Spiegel und Licht« (2020). Her other works included the novel »Der Hilfsprediger« and the autobiography »Von Geist und Geistern«.
