Hermann Diels

Hermann Alexander Diels was a German classical philologist. After completing secondary school, he studied classical philology and initially worked as a secondary-school teacher. He later received an extraordinary professorship at the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität, where he also served as dean and ultimately as rector. From an early age, Diels showed a keen interest in the natural sciences.
