Herbert Steffny

Herbert Steffny is a German biologist and former long-distance runner. He won 16 German championship titles, three Frankfurt Marathon victories, and competed in the Olympic Games. At the 1986 European Championships, he won the bronze medal in the marathon. In 2003, he set a German record in the 10-kilometer race for athletes over 50. Steffny published books on running, including The Big Running Book (Das große Laufbuch). Outside athletics, he pursued ornithology and bird photography; his images appeared in publications and lectures.
