Herbert Genzmer

Herbert Genzmer (born 1952 in Krefeld, Germany) studied English, linguistics and art history in Berlin, Düsseldorf and Cologne. In 1987, he received a doctorate from the University of California, Berkeley, for a study of strategies of deception in German, English and Spanish. Genzmer published numerous books in a range of genres, including novels, travel books, biographies and works on linguistics. His notable publications include a German grammar (1992) and A History of the German Language (2017). He also worked as a lecturer, freelance author and translator.
