Henning Schmidgen

Henning Schmidgen, born in Münster in 1965, studied psychology, philosophy and linguistics in Berlin and Paris. He received a doctorate in psychology in 1996 and completed his habilitation in media studies and the history of science in 2011. He worked as a research fellow at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin and was professor of media aesthetics at the University of Regensburg. He also held visiting professorships at Harvard University and the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris. In 2014, he took up a professorship in the theory of medial worlds at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. His research has included the history of experimental life sciences and the relationship between time and knowledge.
