Heinz Schilling

Heinz Schilling (born 1942) is a German historian. He taught European history of the early modern period as a professor at Humboldt University of Berlin, where he later became professor emeritus. His publications include the biographies “Martin Luther: Rebel in an Age of Upheaval” and “Charles V: The Emperor Whose World Fell Apart,” as well as the book “1517.” His research covers early modern history and the relationship between society, politics, and religion.
