Heinz Rein
Author · 1 book
Heinz Rein (1906–1991) was a German writer. In the 1920s, he worked as a bank clerk and sports journalist. Because of his left-wing political engagement, he lost his job in 1933 and was banned from writing; he was also held by the Gestapo for a time. After 1945, Rein served as a literary adviser in the German administration of the Soviet occupation zone and later worked as a freelance writer in East Germany. After breaking with the Socialist Unity Party in the early 1950s, he moved to Baden-Baden, where he died in 1991.
