Hein de Haas (born 1969) is a sociologist and geographer. His academic positions include professorships in sociology and geography in Amsterdam and in migration and development in Maastricht. He also led the International Migration Institute in Oxford. His interdisciplinary research covers the socioeconomic effects of migration on countries of origin and destination, immigration policy, and the links between global warming, environmental change, and migration. His research has taken him, among other places, to Turkey, Egypt, and Morocco.
