Heiko Postma (born 1946 in Bremerhaven) studied German literature, philosophy and politics in Hanover, earning a doctorate in 1975 with a dissertation on Arno Schmidt. After working for several years in the Lower Saxony school system, he became a writer and editor, serving as an editor of the literary magazine “die horen” from 1985 to 2011. He published biographies, essays, radio features, and literary and theatre criticism. His works include the literary-historical series “Bücher & Menschen”; a revised tenth edition of “Mein Gott! Da sieht es sauber aus! Eine literarische Zeitreise durch Hannover” appeared in 2024. From 2010 onward, Postma edited translations of English- and Dutch-language stories in his series “Kabinett der Phantasten”. He also translated works by Robert Burns, Charles Dickens, A. A. Milne, James Joyce and William Shakespeare, among others.
