Hasnain Kazim

Hasnain Kazim is a German journalist and author. Born in Oldenburg to Indian-Pakistani immigrants, he grew up in the Altes Land region near Hamburg and in Karachi, Pakistan. After studying political science, he initially pursued a career as a naval officer. He later worked for, among others, the dpa South Asia bureau in Delhi and, from 2004 to 2019, for Der Spiegel and Spiegel Online, mainly as a foreign correspondent in Islamabad, Istanbul and Vienna. His journalism earned him several awards, including the CNN Journalist Award. His books include “Grünkohl und Curry,” “Plötzlich Pakistan,” “Krisenstaat Türkei,” “Post von Karlheinz,” and “Auf sie mit Gebrüll!”. “Post von Karlheinz,” a collection of exchanges with angry readers, spent many weeks on the bestseller list.
