Hartmut Winkler

Hartmut Winkler (born 1953) is a German media scholar. He studied architecture and urban planning as well as German studies and theatre, film and television studies. From 1999 to 2017, he was Professor of Media Studies, Media Theory and Media Culture at Paderborn University. He was a co-initiator and, for a time, spokesperson of the university’s graduate research group “Automatismen.” His fields of research include media, cultural and technology theory, everyday culture and semiotics.
