Harry Kemelman (1908–1996) was an American writer and lecturer in English literature. Born in Boston to Russian-Jewish immigrants, he taught English literature at Boston State College. He became best known for his novels featuring Rabbi and amateur detective David Small. Among other distinctions, he received an Edgar Allan Poe Award.
