Harlan Coben was born in New Jersey in 1962. He studied political science and subsequently worked in the tourism industry before turning to writing. He became known especially for his thrillers and the Myron Bolitar series. Coben was the first author to receive the three major American crime-fiction awards: the Edgar Award, the Shamus Award, and the Anthony Award. His works have been translated into numerous languages and adapted extensively for film and television.
