Hans Traxler

Hans Traxler (born 1929 in Herrlich, northern Bohemia) worked as a painter, illustrator, and author. He studied painting and lithography at the Städelschule in Frankfurt and co-founded the satirical magazines Pardon and Titanic. Traxler wrote and illustrated numerous books, including children’s books, cartoon collections, and editions of classic literature. His work also appeared in ZEIT-Magazin, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, and the Süddeutsche Zeitung. He was a member of the New Frankfurt School and received, among other honors, the Göttinger Elch, the German Cartoon Prize, the Wilhelm Busch Prize, and the Friedrich Stoltze Prize.
