Hans Pleschinski

Hans Pleschinski, born in Celle in 1956, is a German author. He studied German, Romance languages and literature, and theatre studies in Munich. His novels include Leichtes Licht, Ludwigshöhe, Königsallee and Wiesenstein; Königsallee and Wiesenstein became bestsellers. He has also edited, among other works, the letters of Madame de Pompadour, the correspondence between Voltaire and Frederick the Great, and a selection from the diary of the Duke of Croÿ. Pleschinski received, among other honors, the Hannelore-Greve Literature Prize (2006), the Nicolas Born Prize (2008), the City of Munich Literature Prize and the Lower Rhine Literature Prize (both 2014), and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation Literature Prize (2020). In 2012, France appointed him Chevalier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. He is a member of the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts.
