Hans Peter Hoffmann

Hans Peter Hoffmann (born in 1957 in Saarbrücken) studied Sinology and German studies. He became a professor of Sinology at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, where he headed the department for Chinese language and culture. His research and publications focus on Chinese philosophy and literature, Daoism, and the theory and practice of translation. He also worked as a literary translator from Chinese.
