Hans Medick

Hans Medick (born 1939) is a German historian. He worked at the Max Planck Institute for History in Göttingen until 2004 and taught, among other institutions, at the universities of Göttingen, Erfurt, Basel, and Zurich, as well as at the University of California, Los Angeles, Washington University in St. Louis, and Johns Hopkins University. Medick is regarded as a pioneer of microhistory and the history of everyday life. His publications include „Weben und Überleben in Laichingen 1650–1900. Lokalgeschichte als Allgemeine Geschichte“ (1996) and the co-edited volumes „Selbstzeugnis und Person. Transkulturelle Perspektiven“ (2012) and „Experiencing the Thirty Years War. A Brief History with Documents“ (2013).
