Hannelore Elsner

Hannelore Elsner (1942–2019) was a German actress and one of the leading character performers in German film, television and theatre. After studying acting in Munich, she began appearing in films in the late 1950s and also worked at theatres in Munich and Berlin during the 1960s. She became widely popular from 1994 as Lea Sommer in the ARD crime series Die Kommissarin. Her notable films included The Unnoticeable (Die Unberührbare, 2000), My Last Film (Mein letzter Film, 2002), Go for Zucker! (Alles auf Zucker!, 2005) and Cherry Blossoms – Hanami (Kirschblüten – Hanami, 2008). For The Unnoticeable, she received, among other honors, the German Film Award. Her other awards and distinctions included the Bavarian Film Award, the Grimme Award, the Golden Camera and the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.
