Hanna-Barbara Gerl-Falkovitz

Hanna-Barbara Gerl-Falkovitz (born 1945) is a philosopher and scholar of religion. She studied philosophy, German studies and political science, completed her doctorate in 1971 and her habilitation in 1979 at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, focusing on Italian Renaissance philosophy. After teaching at several universities, she was professor of philosophy at the University of Education Weingarten from 1989 to 1993 and professor of philosophy of religion and comparative religious studies at TU Dresden from 1993 to 2011. Following her retirement from Dresden, she taught at the Benedict XVI Philosophical-Theological University in Heiligenkreuz, where she founded the European Institute of Philosophy and Religion (EUPHRat). Her areas of work include philosophy of religion, philosophical anthropology and gender relations. She also contributed to the 27-volume complete edition of the works of Edith Stein.
